New Copha watch review: There's a saying that says, "Never judge a book by it's cover". This saying couldn't be more true with this watch. I know that many people will dislike the name, "Hipster". However, you should not be driven off by something as insignificant as a name. In fact, like many other watches, the name is not even found on the watch. At a price of 135 EUR (~$185 USD), this watch definitely has a lot to offer. Case and Crown This watch uses a newer case material known as acetate. This unconventional material starts as a solid block and is carved away until the final shape is achieved. This watch would be extremely light (given the acetate and quartz movement) were it not for its inner metal case and mesh bracelet. The 43mm case as a whole is nicely crafted and the edges are beveled, giving the watch both a nice look and feel. What makes the case even better is the color of the acetate. The tortoise shell color has both dark and light portions (which are more discernible when looking at the watch in bright light). These colors provide for a much more interesting appearance rather than one dull color throughout the entire case. The watch is topped off with mineral crystal. I measured the push/pull crown as 7mm in diameter. The crown is very easy to easy to grasp and therefore allows for easy operation while setting the time. There is some play in the crown while attempting to set the time, but we are dealing with a quartz movement and we shouldn't expect the action to be as tight as a mechanical. That being said the amount play is perfectly acceptable. The case back is circularly brushed and, in the center, reads: "designed by copha / model no: 1022". Along the ring is "WATER RESISTANT 10 ATM" and "STAINLESS STEEL". The bezel has 60 clicks and definitely pays homage to the Rolex Submariner. The clicks are audible and the bezel is easy to gip, but there is quite a bit of play. Score: 8/10 Dial and Hands The dial and hands are definitely one of my favorite features on this watch. The dial, as you may have seen in the pictures, is brown. However, the real beauty is only revealed once the light hits the watch and the radiance of the gorgeous sunray dial is revealed (which, as it turns out, is extremely hard to capture in pictures) but can be easily viewed on the wrist. The hands and markers are both polished. They provide significant contrast with the dial and allow for quick and easy reading of the time. In terms of lume, the time is only visible for a short while before the lume (which is relatively weak to begin with) fades away. Score: 8.5/10 Bracelet and Clasp This bracelet is perfect. You will not know comfortable watch straps can be until you try on mesh. The entire bracelet is brushed, giving it a matte, and therefore understated, appearance. The strap is very easy to resize and if you don't know how to do it, it will only take a few seconds. You can find some good videos on YouTube, etc. From what I understand, this system is used on other watches and seems pretty standard. If you aren't familiar with this particular system, you will find that after a short time, the system works well and keeps the watch securely on the wearer's wrist. Score: 10/10 On the Wrist There's only one thing to say and that is: this watch is comfortable on the wrist. Packaging The packaging on this watch is plain and simple, just how I like it. The cylindrical black tin bearing the Copha logo on the cap houses the watch inside. The watch is secured with a piece of foam. Under the foam are the operating instructions and warranty card. Overall, the watch was well-packaged and it arrived in perfect condition. Since most people don't care about the packaging and it isn't part of the watch, it won't receive a score. Final Overview Overall score: 26.5/30
All in all this is a good watch for the price. It is by far the most comfortable watch I have ever worn. By far. As with my other reviews, I will mention a few things which I think could be improved: 1) Right now the lume is quite weak even when fully charged, I would like to see it stronger in the future. ... and that's it. Please note that I received this product free of charge for review.
