Steinhart ocean one vintage

This is a brand new release from the company who just recently created their first in-house movement (more can be found from my previous blog post here: http://www.itsallaboutwatch
es.com/2/post/2013/11/steinhart-st5-in-house-movement.html). It has vintage lume on the hands, meaning that the lume will not age naturally, but already comes looking aged. Although it appears to be acrylic crystal it is not. Reminiscent of the old style divers it is tall sapphire crystal, better than acrylic as it will be more scratch resistant. It has a 42mm case, 22mm lugs and is 16mm high, a good size for almost everyone and with all the strap options in that range you will not be bound to the bracelet it comes with. It is a Rolex homage with a little twist. The three, six and nine positions all have arabic numbers, giving it a slightly different look, rather than a straight homage. The watch does not have a date. It has a solid caseback, so Steinhart's ST.5 movement will not be visible. There is one lume pip at 0 on the stainless steel bezel. The watch is water resistant to 300m. Although there is no information published I would assume that the watch has a unidirectional rotating bezel, following the dive watch style. The watch can be bought from Steinhart for 460 EUR (19% VAT included). Around 630 USD. Pictures can be found from the Steinhart website here: http://www.st
einhartwatches.de/en/OCEAN-one-vintage,817.html. Although the watch homages the Rolex Submariner it is of a much, much higher quality than most homage watches and is definitely worth the money.
