Kickstarter is a boiling plot for all sorts of ideas from entrepreneurs because many startup brands do not have a budget to fund their projects. This new brand is no exception. The Zelos Helmsman comes in either bronze or stainless steel. My feeling is that the bronze will be more popular given the sort of nautical design and the amazing patina they were able to put on the prototype model (seen above). At the heart of the Helmsman beats the Miyota 9015, a very popular movement nowadays due to the relatively cheap price and high beat rate. The one complaint many have about this movement is the rotor noise, which can be quite audible while wearing the watch. Different cases handle the noise from the movement in differently and I would like to see how this case design insulates the sound. Both cases, in steel and bronze, are 43mm in diameter and have two crowns, one for setting the time (at 4 o'clock) and one for adjusting the inner rotating bezel (at 2 o'clock). I could go on much longer about all the features of this watch but you will have to visit their kickstarter page to see the rest. These look very promising and with over 50% funded in under two days, it's looking good for Zelos.
