Mido's beautiful new watch, the Belluna Chronograph Caliber 60 pays homage to Royal Albert Hall, located in London. The new watch is meant to recreate the architecture of the iconic venue. The watch pictured is steel with a polished gold PVD finish, though there are two other versions, according to Mido. Unfortunately, they are not pictured. I've always seen strong feelings surrounding gold PVD coatings. Some appreciate the cheaper price, others dislike it because the finish can wear and it isn't truly gold, which some view as "fake". Personally, I don't see a problem with it. The durability of the finish really only comes into question when the watch is under heavy duress for a long period of time. Daily wear won't do a thing to the case, assuming you aren't rubbing it on things all the time. The case measures 42mm in diameter, my "perfect" size. The lugs do look rather long, however, but without having the watch in-hand or the official dimensions, I can't say for sure. Also on the case is a quick-date corrector located at 10 o'clock. I have never really been a fan of the button-operated date change system, but I don't hate it either. The watch is paired with a brown calfskin strap (made to look like crocodile) and a stainless steel folding clasp (also with a rose gold PVD coating). While I am not aware of the price, the coating on the case, rather than using actual gold, will ensure the watch is not astronomically priced. Detailed technical specifications (directly from the press release) are directly to the right. Overall, I like it, and I'm crossing my fingers one of the other two versions is steel, I'm not really the type to wear a gold watch.
