The big companies aren't releasing anything, so here's a Kickstarter watch (actually 2 models) that I found particularly interesting. ![]() The Privateer and Voyager are two, as Mercer describes watches that are "nautically-inspired". However, they also describes the watches as "contemporary" and although I kind of agree with the Voyager (picture above), the Privateer just isn't a modern design (left). The numbers, the wide chapter ring, the smaller subdial and the hands aren't modern. The watch above is slightly more up-to-date, I just don't like the design as much as other watches. The dial seems too plain and open, the strap looks like a tire and the hands look just odd (especially the hour hand). That being said, the project is already fully funded, so it appears as though I am in the minority. I am writing about the campaign rather late into it (there are only 5 days to go), but I thought everyone would like to hear about it nonetheless. I have put two pictures with the specs below and also all of the different variations of the two models.
