In order to celebrate the upcoming opening of IWC's new flagship Boutique on Rodeo Drive, IWC has created the new Big Pilot's "Boutique Rodeo Drive". With a deep, blue dial and classic Big Pilot styling, the watch deviates in the way that IWC has returned to its recognizable designs with the triangle at 12, for example, that made it such a large brand in the first place. The watch has a 46mm ceramic case (with a titanium crown). Inside is the (no, the four 1s aren't a typo) caliber 51111 automatic movement with, as you might be able to tell from the indicator at 3 o'clock, a 7-day power reserve. On the contrary to what I said earlier, I dislike how nearly every big brand has been releasing limited edition watches for every small event or anniversary that they can think of. There's truly no need for them to, but they apparently sell. We have a new limited edition for the brand anniversary (which I agree with), new boutiques (which is a bit of a stretch, but I can still understand), but then they have them for everything else such as car races or any other reason they can think of for making a watch (Hublot, anyone?). Wake me up when companies stop releasing a LE for any reason they can think of.
