Gorgeous watch with a myriad of details, or basically a watch to fit in with their others. The new Royal Oak Tourbillon Chronograph Openworked (Ref 26347PT.OO.D315CR.01) was unveiled last week as the counterpart of their titanium watch (same design found here). The watch has a 44mm platinum case protecting the hand-wound AP Caliber 2936. The watch is gorgeous. The movement is gorgeous (sorry, these are the largest pictures I could find), the 950 platinum case is exquisitely finished and the openworked movement could not look better. One, however, might be more tempted to look at the Royal Oak Offshore Diver Chronograph (this is just one of the four versions released), due to its lower price tag. The price of the Tourbillon Chronograph Openworked isn't the best-looking number. Coming in at $315,000, you aren't going to see many of these in the real world.
Quite the beautiful new watch from Omega, the Moonphase Chronograph Master Chronometer is one of the new pieces that will be displayed at Baselworld 2016. The other will be a new Seamaster Planet Ocean. I first want to go over the term "Master Chronometer", because it's rather interesting. The new 9904 movement is not only nicely finished, but it is certified METAS (basically another level of certification that takes a movement past real-life conditions. The movement first passes the COSC certification, then passes additional tests such as resistance to water and magnetism. The watch as a whole is simply beautiful with a sunray vivid blue dial, liquidmetal ceramic bezel, and well-finished 44.25mm steel case (along with a large exhibition case back). Not to mention the detailed moonphase indicator with a moon that, Omega reports, has an astronaut's footprint on it. While on the subject of the moonphase, it is calibrated to 29.5 days and requires adjusting once every 10 years. No information on pricing yet, but just wanted to show everyone this stunning new watch from omega. Needless to say, it'll be on my list for future purchases (although maybe not, seeing as it will most likely be in the region of $12,000).
