Breitling's newest addition to their collection, the Super Avenger 01, is a 100-piece limited edition that also sets the tone for the future of Breitling as a company. For the first time, a watch from the Avenger series will be equipped with Breitling's in-house B01 movement, signaling that Breitling will likely begin to place a heavier focus on producing watches whose value is based on more than its design and the logo on the dial. In general, the watch remains very similar to the Super Avenger II (SAII). The 48mm case diameter is consistent across both models, although Breitling chose not to reveal the thickness of the Super Avenger 01 Despite the lack of official information, I'm going to guess that it will be fairly close to the 17.75mm mark set by the Super Avenger II. Compared to the Breitling 13 movement, which is actually a Valjoux 7750 that Breitling bought and renamed, their in-house B01 movement is actually .7mm thinner. Although a decrease from 7.9mm to 7.2mm is slight, it could still have a noticeable effect on the way the watch wears. Whether this difference in movement thickness will carry over to the overall thickness has yet to be seen. The watch caseback is engraved with vintage-styled pin-up art featuring a red inscription that reads "Special Delivery". There is no information on pricing currently, but given the prices of the SAII, other watches containing the B01 movement, and the extremely limited release, I'd expect to pay somewhere in the ballpark of $9,500-$11,000. breitling.com
