Omega has just announced that they will release a fully-functional version of their 300m Professional watch, the same one used in the movies featuring Pierce Brosnan. In these movies, the watch featured a laser and grappling hook. It even acted as a detonator for a bomb at one point. Omega is going to release a watch with all of these features (plus a couple of others which Omega did not specify). Unfortunately (I assume to save space for the other "complications"), the watch is quartz. It will remain 41mm in diameter, but will be about 17mm thick. Onto the cool features. The helium escape will act as a small explosive, while the watch bezel (which features a special selection system so one doesn't accidentally detonate the bomb) will act as the detonator (sorry for the repetitiveness). The grappling hook uses a high-tensile wire 50 feet long and will be invisible while wearing the watch. It will be shot from the top (above the 12 position), but on the side of the case after removing the bracelet. The bracelet has a special pin so it can be easily removed. Pressing a special pusher located at 2 o'clock will fire the hook. But don't worry, it's only functional when part of the bracelet is removed (the part covering the opening, that is). The laser, unlike the movies (where it originated from the bezel pearl) will originate from the 9 o'clock side of the case. It will also use the bezel. According to Omega, it will be able to cut through 4 inches of steel when within eight inches. To change the selection on the bezel to detonate, turn the bezel to 7 (for 007, I assume) and pull up until the first click. Once it it turned back to 0, a light located in the 7 o'clock marker (also for 007, I assume) will begin to flash red. Turning the bezel past 15 in either direction starts the three-second fuse. There is no way to stop the countdown once it is activated. To activate the laser, you will again turn the bezel to 7, then pull up until you hear the second click. Turning the bezel back to 0, then anywhere past 10 or 50 will turn on the high-powered laser. Overall, I think it's the perfect release for April Fool's Day. :P If I wasn't clear enough: happy April Fool's Day, did I trick you?
