On April 24th Roy Hodgson, the Manager of the England National football team, was presented with a watch that has been created and named in his honor. This is the King Power 66 Hodgson. After being presented with the watch, Mr. Hodgson said,
“Dad and I are massive fans of the Hublot brand, and their extraordinary vision, fusion of materials, and marketing expertise is truly amazing, and one of the great success stories. It is a proud day for me personally to make this project a reality with my Father as the ambassador for this unique ‘66 piece’, and a legacy from me to him of sorts. My deep gratitude to Mr JC Biver, and my friends Ricardo Guadalupe (CEO of Hublot) & Rick de La Croix for their support, and believing in the Hublot King Power 66 Hodgson!”.
This watch is made for soccer fans. Not only is it named after one of the Managers of one of the most popular teams in the world, but it also has Mr. Hodgon's signature on the dial. The case back also sports the English victory emblem while the side of the watch has England's flag on it. However, the ties and relations to soccer don't stop at appearances. The HUB4245, rather than having a 60-minute counter for an even hour, has a 45-minute counter used to measure each half (halves are 45 minutes) of the soccer (or football) match. Going back the exterior of the watch, the carbon-fiber case is 48mm in diameter and comes with two interchangeable straps, black rubber strap with white or red or black alligator. Each uses a deployant buckle, which is preferred by many over more traditional and cheaper pin/tang buckles. As the name may indicate, the watch is a limited edition of just 66 pieces. Another limited edition from Hublot isn't exactly anything special, but it does have a link to the most popular sport in the world.
