Speake Marin, the small company that just earlier this year announced their first chronograph, the Spirit Seafire comes the next Baselworld novelty, the Speake Marin Magister Tourbillon. Featuring a platinum micro rotor and a hand-finished movement this watch is debatably the highest quality watch we have seen for Baselworld yet. The case itself is 42mm in diameter and is made of grade 5 titanium. The exhibition case back displays the in-house calibre SM3, an automatic, 25 jewel movement. Even though it has only one barrel it still holds a power reserve of 72 hours. You will not that the Oris 110 also has a single barrel movement and a power reserve of 240 hours but that movement is hand-wound while the SM3 is automatic. The dial is very similar to other Speake Marin watches. With the blued hands and roman numerals this classic style has proven to be very popular in the past and will continue to be in the future. The tourbillon mechanism has a custom cage made to implement the trademarked circle look found on other SM watches. The watch will come with a hand-made natural alligator strap and pin buckle. It fits nicely with the design and because the watch has a water resistance of only 30m, there is no need to add a bracelet for water related reasons. This is one of the nicest watches released for Baselworld 2014. With a tourbillon, titanium case, platinum rotor, 72 hour power reserve, classic design, and great brand name this watch will be successful and I am sure that they will sell fast.
