With SIHH only two days away, companies have stopped announcing new models. There were lots of new models announced, many of which I unfortunately did not cover here. It is now time to look to the future and look at Baselworld 2014. Frederique Constant released the Classics Manufacture Worldtimer 12 months ago and it has been popular ever since. Much like the Girard-Perregaux Chronohawk, it was released with a leather strap, and no bracelet option. Now, the 42mm watch is available on a 5-link polished bracelet with a butterfly clasp. The movement and dial design is all the same, the whole case really is, the bracelet is the only change. The movement is the tried-and-true in-house FC-718 caliber. This caliber features a date display on a large subdial at 6 o'clock. I appreciate the large subdial because it will make sure there is no error while reading the date. The movement also has a world-timer function that displays 25 cities. It is decorated with perlage and circular cotes-de-geneve and is displayed through the exhibition caseback. The movement has 26 jewels and a 42-hour power reserve, more than enough, especially with an automatic movement. The watch will be first seen in person at Basel 2014. No information on pricing has been released yet but judging by their last model it will be in the range of $3700-$4100. More information and pictures can be found on their website here: http://www.frederique-constant.com/en/news/the-world-just-became-a-brighter-place-the-classics-manufacture-worldtimer. This is the second pre-basel release I have heard of (the first was the Omega Speedmaster Mark II reissue watch). Baselworld 2014 here we come!
